Will you see my kids and grandparents?
Yes, of course. Dr. Striebel has over 20 years of experience treating patients of all ages. Our general dentistry services encompass treatments suitable for our youngest patients and our restorative dental solutions often benefit our senior patients. We understand that every individual has different needs and goals, and we will cater the treatment and the experience to best accommodate our patient – no matter his or her age.
How can I straighten my smile without braces?
We offer many cosmetic dental solutions to help our patients achieve their goals. While orthodontics is often a great solution, we understand that many adults hesitate at the thought of wearing metal braces. In addition to Invisalign clear braces, we can discuss braces-free options, such as porcelain veneers, Lumineers, and dental bonding. Porcelain veneers and Lumineers, also called instant orthodontics, are ultra-thin porcelain casings that fit over existing teeth. Dental bonding is a tooth-colored, composite resin applied to the teeth, artistically sculpted, and hardened in a single visit. Come in for a consultation, and Dr. Striebel will help you decide the right method for your smile.
What’s the difference between digital X-rays and traditional X-rays?
If you’ve ever had a traditional X-ray taken, then you probably remember the waiting, the films, and the hassle of hauling them from one office to another… digital X-rays have changed all that. With digital X-rays, we can show you the results instantly, on your chairside monitor. We can also reproduce them infinitely and transfer them digitally for insurance purposes. And – best of all – digital X-rays expose our patients to about 90% less radiation, and they’re safer for the environment, too!
When should I have a checkup?
The American Dental Association recommends dental checkups at least twice a year for everyone age five and up. However, some patients require more frequent visits to maintain optimal oral health. At your checkup, we will screen for oral cancer, scan your teeth with our cavity-finding laser, evaluate your periodontal health, and take intraoral photos and digital X-rays. Many dental conditions, gum disease, for example, have very mild warning signs that patients don’t notice prior to their dental visit. By attending regular checkups, you can prevent minor problems from escalating and potentially jeopardizing your long-term oral health.
What is laser treatment for gum disease?
Laser treatment can be combined with comprehensive periodontal therapy to reduce some periodontal infection. The laser also promotes reattachment of gums to the teeth and does not require sutures. Laser treatment for gum disease is precise, conservative, and comfortable in comparison to traditional methods. Oftentimes, we can perform the treatment in a single visit, and many patients don’t need anesthesia during laser therapy.
I really don’t like visiting the dentist. How can you help me relax?
We understand that, oftentimes, there is some anxiety associated with dental appointments. To make you as comfortable as possible, we offer a variety of ways to help you relax– from personal headphones in the treatment rooms, to nitrous oxide, if requested. Just make us aware of your concerns, and we’ll do all we can to help you feel at home.
