Full, Partial, and Implant-supported Dentures Can Restore Your Smile

Missing teeth can impair your dental function and make you unhappy with your appearance. Fortunately, Dr. John Striebel offers a full selection of custom-made dentures at our Miamisburg, OH, practice. Modern restorations are made from beautiful, lifelike materials and can be secured with dental implants for greater comfort and security. Thanks to these advanced techniques, today’s dentures are almost identical to natural teeth. Dr. Striebel will conduct a full exam and discuss your lifestyle, budget, and treatment goals before making a recommendation. Together, you will select the right type of dentures for you. Traditional Full and Partial Dentures

Laughing couple in a spring landscapeTraditional dentures are removable prostheses. Though other options are available, this type of restoration can still be a great way to improve your smile and dental function. Dr. Striebel offers both full and partial dentures. He works carefully and uses detailed impressions of your dental arches to craft your restoration. Therefore, your denture will fit comfortably and securely. A gum-colored plastic base will rest around your alveolar ridge and denture adhesive will help keep the restoration in place. If you receive a partial denture, tiny metal clasps will attach to the adjacent teeth for greater stability.

Implant-retained Dentures

If you are looking for maximum stability and a highly lifelike appearance, consider implant-retained dentures. Available as both full and partial restorations, these permanent dentures will remain firmly anchored in your jawbone. You can continue to eat all of your favorite foods, and will not have to worry about your denture slipping out of place when you smile or talk. If Dr. Striebel determines that dental implants are right for you, he will place several small posts in your jawbone. The exact number of implants will depend on the size of your restoration. In many cases, he will position two implants to support a partial denture and four implants to support a full restoration. During the healing process, your bone and gums will integrate with the posts. We can provide a temporary denture during your recovery. When healing is finished, we will attach your permanent restoration.

Which Dentures are Right for You?

Implant-retained dentures are more stable than removable restorations. They can also prevent the jawbone recession and changing facial structure that accompanies tooth loss. However, dental implants are not right for everyone. If you have already suffered bone recession, or if you are unable to undergo elective surgery, a removable restoration may be more appropriate. In some cases, bone grafting can build up the jaw and improve your candidacy.
