Traditional Orthodontics

Misaligned teeth not only affect your appearance, but your overall oral health as well. Crowded or crooked teeth can place uneven force on your jaw. This can lead to facial tension and increase your risk for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Dr. John Striebel has nearly 30 years of experience in orthodontia. If you suffer from malocclusion, he will recommend an appropriate orthodontic treatment to meet your needs. In many cases, we can provide braces with clear brackets. These braces work like traditional orthodontics, but they are much more discreet.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is often the most effective treatment for a dental infection. Although many people believe root canal therapy will be highly unpleasant, the treatment actually involves minimal discomfort. Dr. Striebel will first numb your tooth and gums. Then he will use gentle methods to clean out your tooth and root canals, removing bacteria and infected material. After filling your tooth, he will restore it with a custom-made dental crown. Dr. Striebel works with advanced magnification devices to make your treatment more efficient and precise.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

TMJ disorder occurs when injury, stress, illness, or dietary changes place undue force on the jaw joints. In response, the joints become inflamed. Alternatively, the cushioning discs of the jaw may slip out of place, causing the joints to grind together. If you suffer from TMJ disorder, which can cause headaches and jaw fatigue, Dr. Striebel can often treat the condition with a custom mouth guard. By wearing it at night, the device can realign your jaw to reduce pressure and inflammation.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

If you struggle with chronic fatigue, loud snoring, forgetfulness, headaches, or similar symptoms, you may be suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA develops when your soft palate or throat close off during sleep, blocking the flow of air. As a result, you will wake up multiple times during the night, even if you are unaware of these disruptions to your sleep. A custom-made oral splint may be the optimal solution. This appliance will realign your jaw and tighten your soft palate to keep your airways open during the night.

Gum Grafting

If you have more advanced periodontal disease, Dr. Striebel may recommend gum grafting. First he will numb your gums and soft palate. Then he will take a tissue sample, typically from your soft palate. Next he will attach this sample to your gum line, filling in the areas where you have suffered gum recession. He will attach the sample using small sutures. Over the next few weeks, your gums will integrate naturally with these new tissues. Through gum grafting, your smile can be refined and unhealthy tissue can be treated.

Periodontal Care

If left untreated, gum disease can have devastating consequences for your smile. The condition can lead to tooth loss, gum recession, and even bone degeneration. Scaling and root planing, or a deep cleaning, is one of the most effective treatments for moderate periodontal disease. Dr. Striebel will remove pockets of bacteria from your gum tissue. He will also smooth rough places on your roots, where bacteria will often develop. Dr. Striebel uses gentle techniques and advanced magnification. Therefore, your deep cleaning should involve minimal discomfort.

Connective Tissue Grafting

Connective tissue grafting is similar to gum grafting but accesses a deeper layer of tissue from the donor site. During treatment, Dr. Striebel will create a flap on the roof of the mouth and remove a small piece of tissue from underneath it. The flap will then be replaced and allowed to heal. Connective tissue grafting can improve your appearance. Even more importantly, it can also reduce dental sensitivity and protect your delicate roots.
